In Flanders Fields

Today is Remembrance Day. On the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour, we remember. We remember those who fought for our freedom. Those who didn’t make it home, those who did make it home but suffered through PTSD. Not just those who served in both world wars, but also those who have served in many other wars.

In Flanders Fields, the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from falling hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

I was going to do a links and loves post today, but I’m going to save that until tomorrow. Today, we honour our veterans. Those who fought to keep our country free, and those who continue to by being in the military.

Thank you to our veterans, but living and dead.

Be sure to thank a vet today!
