12 Articles Every 20-Something (and Everyone Else!) Needs to Read

I know that I have been seriously struggling with getting good posts out lately, life has been chaotic and crazy. I haven’t been sleeping, all I’ve been doing is sleeping. I’m hoping to get my shit together in the near future to continue posting.
In the age of social media and how it much it has grown over the last five years even, it should be no surprise that many people are looking for advice on it. I have spent time rounding up some of the articles that I personally have helped me with success over the last few years. I hope that you all enjoy them as much as I did!

10 Things Every Woman Should Know by 25

Honestly, I was iffy when I opened this article online since it was written by Cosmopolitan. I was pleasantly surprised though! It talks about important topics many people in their 20s face; from handling your friend’s crappy fiancée to relationship advice to beauty suggestions. I have started to follow some of the tips from this article, such as trying a BB Cream instead of foundation. I must say, this is one of the greatest guidelines that I have read about becoming a young professional in the hustle bustle world that we live in.

8 Reasons to Love Being Single

If you’re happy and in a committed relationship, then good for you! However, I have been single since February and have found reasons to fall in love with being single. I loved reading this article, it made it seem not as terrible when I was freshly single. The article includes girls’ nights, finding yourself, travel and the best one: not shaving! It definitely is an article that is worth the read whether you’ve been single for a while, freshly single or in a relationship but wanting to support a single friend.

15 Signs You’re Finally in a Healthy Relationship

I may have just talked about falling in love with being single, however, I think that women also need to acknowledge the signs of being in a good relationship. This article again is by Cosmopolitan, and discusses topics that people in their 20s really should be acknowledging when it comes to relationship advice. For example, if he doesn't text you back right away, it doesn't even cross your mind to be worried. This article is definitely a key article for anyone in a relationship, hesitant as to whether it’s healthy or not!

10 Financial Habits to Start in Your 20s

This won’t be the first time I admit it – I suck at saving. I have friends who talk about having money saved up to buy a house, travel and do things that most should be doing at 23. Unfortunately, my current bank statement screams overdraft. This article talks about key topics like comparing yourself vs. your friends’ financial situations, saving, creating a budget and setting financial goals. I definitely have started trying to follow some of this advice since I read this article, but I won’t lie… I’m still a work in progress.

7 Lady Bosses Share Their Best Career Advice

I love the whole #girlboss movement. I know that I talk about it a lot on my blog, but I am slowly building my empire in my field and I am so proud of myself for that. I think that society has changed so much, therefore woman are working a lot more than even in our parents’ generation. I found this article very motivating because it features lady CEOs, company founders and editor-in-chiefs. I personally don’t strive to ever have a job that high but this article is so empowering and features so much key points. I am so glad that mydomaine.com took the time to create this article for ladies to read.

How I Scored My Dream Job at 23 (and How You Can, Too!)

This is my article. In this article, I talked about different ways to look for jobs, building the perfect resume and preparing for the interview. There are so many little things that people forget when applying for jobs, and this article covers all of those.

11 Tips for Work-Life Integration

I don’t think I’m alone when I say this: I feel as though I’m burning myself out at 23. Everyone keeps saying to me “work hard now, it’ll pay off later” and/or “you’re young, you can handle all of the shifts”. The thing is, when I have zero me time, I get agitated and stressed. I love my job, and I want to do everything that I can to get into a management position, because that’s the ultimate goal. But how far are we willing to push our personal lives away to get ahead in our career? That’s the question I think on the mind of a lot of my generation. This article talks about little things that you can do in your life to develop a great work/life balance.

Dress Like a Boss: How to Create a Capsule Wardrobe for Work

In order to be a successful lady boss, you really need to have a wardrobe that matches. Right out of college, I purchased a lot of my work clothes at the stores that I bought clothing from in high school and college (khaki pants and chiffon blouses from cheap shops). I think as young professionals, millennials really need to get into the routine of shopping for a professional wardrobe with timeless, classic pieces. Jess Atkins, the author of this article, talks about important things like choosing a colour palette, appropriate hemlines for the workplace and planning your outfits in advanced. This article is definitely worth the read for if you’re searching for the right work wardrobe.

Don’t Fall Into These Millennial Myths!

When I first opened this link, I was just kind of like “well, this could be an interesting article…” I started reading it, and I realized that I loved it. In the first paragraph, it raises a key topic that most people tend to forget: our generation is the future leaders of tomorrow. My absolute favourite synopsis of an article comes from Forbes. It is:
“Millennials are often stripped down to the following connotations: Ungrateful. Selfish. Unintelligent. Trophy Kids. Impatient. Head in the clouds. But I’ve come to realize that, for a lot of people, being a Millennial isn’t a deal breaker. Many are fully aware of Millennial stereotypes and they’re smart enough to know that those claims (of the most diverse generation) are far generalized.”
… I think that’s all that needs to be said about this article.

50 Best TED Talks for Millennials

Sam at smart-twenties.com has always been one of my favourite bloggers! I love the topics that she covers for 20-somethings, which include real life topics for my generation. In this particular article, Sam has found 50 TED Talks that are relevant to my generation.
Some of the talks are:
Dare to Disagree (Margaret Heffernan)
This article is great, with 47 more TED Talks, plus a synopsis of the talks!

6 Weird Symptoms of PMS That Are More Common Than You Think

Honestly, I seriously debated posting this article. I decided to do it, though! This article is geared toward ladies, to make us feel a bit more comfortable with the elephant in the room – menstruation. I think that is a lot more common than it was 30 years ago for people to openly talk about their periods, but so many women are still so self-conscious about discussing symptoms that they may think are weird or uncomfortable. I personally think that PMS symptoms and periods in general need to stop being such a taboo topic to talk about and we need to open up about how we feel when we are going through our cycle.

33 Weird Thoughts Every Woman Starts Having in Her Mid 20s

I am genuinely obsessed with Kate Bailey’s articles. However, this one hit me over the head with the realness. I think the top five six thoughts that I relate to the most from this article include:
“I don’t know where there aren’t nutrition labels on wine bottles but I support whatever that reason is.”
“Or I can just find someone really really rich, marry them and maintain a very happy surface level relationship and never have to worry about a thing again.”
“I’m glad I’m single right now, I’m on a spiritual journey, I’m finding myself, this is what life is about.”
“I’m not going to that wedding because I would rather spend $250 on H&M and sushi than people I barely know. So suck it.”
“So my closet currently consists of something to wear to an interview, a funeral, out for drinks, out for brunch, chic plane travel, messy but cute train travel, cute sweats so somebody can see me looking effortlessly gorgeous while we’re cuddling… basically I just buy things for hypothetical situations I make up in my head and call it having my life together. Try me.”
“My ex getting married before me is going to induce a quarter life crisis/my personal demise.”

I personally can’t get enough of this article; but I love this article and this article by Kate Bailey as well. It kind of saddens me that she quit writing!

I’m interested if you guys have any articles that you think are important for millennials to read. Let me know in the comments below!
