Shows I've Been Watching Lately (and shows I've stopped watching)

I had big intentions for my blog posts this week but then life happens and I didn’t even have an opportunity to sit down at the computer. I’m off today and I’m off Monday – I have to take Mater to the vet for 12:30 then I have a tattoo appointment at 3 for myself. I’m hoping to really sit down and take time to write some posts over the weekend and on Monday though.

With that being said, I thought I would sit down and share what I’ve been watching recently on TV. I’m honestly always struggling for shows but lately have found some that I’ve enjoying.
I thought I’d share what I’ve been watching (and what I stopped watching recently, too) today.

Shows I’ve Been Watching

For the People
I honestly really skeptical about whether or not I wanted to watch this. It’s a Shonda Rhimes show and I always find I watch her shows for the first bit then stop. It’s about both prosecutors and public defenders in a federal court who handle super high profile cases. It’s only on the second season and I’m honestly really enjoying it thus far. I hope the quality doesn’t go downhill as it continues.

Splitting Up Together
This is another newer show that I was iffy as to whether or not I’d enjoy it. There’s some episodes I love and some episodes that are just “meh” to me. However, it’s the ones I love that make it worthwhile. Ellen DeGeneres is one of the executive producers and it stars Jenna Fischer (if you know me, you know I love The Office) and Oliver Hudson. It’s about a couple who separates and tries to live in the same house but alternate weeks of them living in the house – one parent stays in the house for a week, the other lives in the garage behind the house. It’s honestly really funny at times and serious at others.

Good Girls
I know a lot of people watched this since it’s on Netflix now but I’ve been watching it since the pilot episode on NBC. It’s currently on its second season on NBC. It’s about three moms who all need money for different reasons and decide to pull off a heist of a supermarket – but the heist leads to so much more.

Friends
I think everyone on this planet has had to have heard of Friends at some point, but Friends is one of my two comfort shows (see below for the other). If I was left on a stranded island for a month and could only watch one show, it hands down would be Friends.

Gilmore Girls
My other comfort show. I grew up watching Gilmore Girls and have continued to watch it into adulthood. I’ve watched from the pilot episode until the end at least five times, even suffering through A Year In The Life three times just to say that I watched it. It’s such a wholesome show and I don’t even know what else to say about it.

Parks and Recreation
I am huge sucker for The Office and had been putting off Parks and Rec but I have learned quickly that I love it. I’ve watched it from start to finish twice now and am currently starting a third time on it. It starts so many great people including Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Rashida Jones, Retta, Chris Pratt and Adam Scott. It’s a similar setup to The Office, but it’s based on Pawnee’s Parks and Recreation department instead of Dunder Mifflin. I 10/10 recommend this show if you need a good laugh!

Parenthood
I’ve watched about halfway through the show once before but recently decided to try it again. It’s such a wholesome family show. I’ve turned to it to watch as I’ve stopped watch This Is Us. It starts Lauren Graham, Dax Shepard, Peter Krause, Mae Whitman and more. It’s about four siblings who are dealing with life and marital problems, and they all lean on each other.

Shows I Stopped Watching

I won’t go as in detail about plot lines, just why I stopped watching these shows.

How to Get Away with Murder
It’s always seemed farfetched to me, but this past season has gone so far that I can’t return. I might tune in for the series finale but I couldn’t do this season.

This Is Us
I love This Is Us. It’s such a nice family show and has so many nice things about it. I just found it way too predictable. I figured out how Jack out, I figured out the election stuff this season and Kate having a baby way before any of it actually happened. I just couldn’t do it anymore.

Grey’s Anatomy
I do still PVR this but I skip a lot. I just want to know what happens to Karev and Jo at this point. I don’t even care about Meredith’s storylines so much anymore.

The Good Doctor
I loved the first season of The Good Doctor but it just felt like a slippery slope during season two and I can’t get back up the slope.

What shows have you been watching and which have you stopped? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Since we cut the cord, we only watch series and movies from the library. We became addicted to Signed, Sealed and Delivered (a Hallmark show). We are such happy endings nerds!!

  4. I JUST started PLL: The Perfectionists and loved it! I was a Pretty Little Liars fan to the end so this one is fun! I also love The Resident, New Amsterdam, and I just started the Village. Oh, and a Million Little Things! :)
