Seven Books to Read (before they become movies!)

I love reading books before the movie comes outs. Nine times out of ten, I find the book better than the movie.

I’ve only read one of these seven books, The Rosie Project. Which was honestly one of the best books I’ve ever read. Although I typically stick to thrillers, it was just so sweet and fun. With that being said, these books are all on my to-read list.

“Jodi, a dedicated wife who, despite her husband Todd’s frequent indiscretions, continues to play the part with immaculate precision. When confronted with the brutal truth of him leaving her for a younger woman, Jodi will not accept defeat. Wheat begins as a tragic dissolution of a marriage quickly spirals into a game of cat and mouse with calamitous stakes.”
Movie info: A date has not been released yet, however, Nicole Kidman will be playing Jodi.

“Bernadette hates people, she hates leaving the house and more than anything, she hates the other parents at her daughter’s school. But when Bee’s mother disappears, it’s her mission to find out where she is and what really happened to her.”
Movie info: The film adaption is set to be released on October 19, 2018. There’s many well-known actors and actresses in this film. Cate Blanchett is playing Bernadette Fox. The film also features Billy Crudup, Kristen Wiig, Judy Greer, Laurence Fishburne, Troian Bellisario and James Urbaniak.

“At first glance the 28-year-old Ani appears to have a perfect life: She works as an editor at a glamorous women's magazine and has a loving fiancé from a good family. However Ani also hides a secret - as a teenager she underwent a series of horrifying and emotionally crippling events, including a school shooting, that have continued to impact her well into her adult years. As the story progresses Ani begins to question whether or not she is truly happy with who she has become and whether or not this life is truly the one she wants and needs.”
Movie info Not much is known, however, Reese Witherspoon will be producing it!

“Sam and Clementine have a wonderful, albeit, busy life: they have two little girls, Sam has just started a new dream job, and Clementine, a cellist, is busy preparing for the audition of a lifetime. If there’s anything they can count on, it’s each other. Clementine and Erika are each other’s oldest friends. A single look between them can convey an entire conversation. But theirs is a complicated relationship, so when Erika mentions a last minute invitation to a barbecue with her neighbors, Tiffany and Vid, Clementine and Sam don’t hesitate. Having Tiffany and Vid’s larger than life personalities there will be a welcome respite. Two months later, it won’t stop raining, and Clementine and Sam can’t stop asking themselves the question: What if we hadn’t gone?”
Movie info: I think everyone under the sun knows about Big Little Lies. Good news: Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon will also be in the film adaption of Liane Moriarty’s book!

“Garrard, the son of a Baptist pastor in a small American town, is outed to his parents as gay at the age of 19. Garrard is quickly pressured into attending a gay conversion therapy program – or else be shunned by his family, friends and church. It is within the program that Garrard comes into conflict with his head therapist.”
Movie info: Boy Erased is set to be released on September 28, 2018. Garrard will be played by Lucas Hedges and his parents are played by Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe.

“Portia Kane is having a meltdown. After escaping her ritzy Florida life and her cheating pornographer husband, she finds herself back in South Jersey, a place that remains largely unchanged from the years of her unhappy youth. Lost and alone, looking for the goodness she believes still exists in the world, Portia sets off on a quest to save the one man who always believed in her—and in all of his students: her beloved high school English teacher, Mr. Vernon, who has retired broken and alone after a traumatic classroom incident. Will a sassy nun, an ex-heroin addict, a metalhead little boy, and her hoarder mother help or hurt Portia’s chances on this quest to resurrect a good man and find renewed hope in the human race? Love May Fail is a story of the great highs and lows of existence: the heartache and daring choices it takes to become the person you know (deep down) you are meant to be.”
Movie info: There isn’t currently a movie release date. However, Emma Stone is set to play the main character. I do also feel the need to add, Matthew Quick also wrote Silver Linings Playbook; so I expect it to be as good as it.

“A first-date dud, socially awkward and overly fond of quick-dry clothes, genetics professor Don Tillman has given up on love, until a chance encounter gives him an idea. He will design a questionnaire—a sixteen-page, scientifically researched questionnaire—to uncover the perfect partner. She will most definitely not be a barmaid, a smoker, a drinker or a late-arriver. Rosie is all these things. She is also fiery and intelligent, strangely beguiling, and looking for her biological father a search that a DNA expert might just be able to help her with.”
Movie info: The movie is set to come out on May 10, 2019. Ryan Reynolds is reportedly set to play Don. This honestly kind of disappoints me because as I read the book, I saw Don as someone like Jim Parsons.
P.S. the sequel, The Rosie Effect is fabulous, too.
